Known for their emphasis on collaboration and creativity, Nashville Ballet will be working alongside an all-star line-up of both local and nationally renowned female artists for their 2022-23 season.

A cross-disciplinary tour de force performed by Nashville Ballet, Great Performances: Black Lucy and The Bard explores the love life of William Shakespeare and his muses, the “Dark Lady” and the “Fair Youth,” presenting the idea that these subjects and inspirations in his love sonnets were a Black woman and a young man.

Featuring star-studded collaborations and blockbuster fan-favorites, the robust repertoire includes the return of the magical production that inspired the Emmy Award-winning film, Nashville’s Nutcracker, Paul Vasterling’s sparkling rendition of Cinderella, world-premiere works by Tony and Emmy award-winning choreographers, plus brand-new live musical collaborations with the Nashville Symphony, Nashville locals Morgxn and Allison Russell, and international violin prodigy Yvette Kraft. 

After a triumphant season of returning to TPAC, embarking on a nation-wide tour, and winning their first-ever Emmy Award, Nashville Ballet is set to conclude their 2021-22 season at Belmont University's brand-new Fisher Center for the Performing Arts June 4 and 5. A state-of-the-art facility built specifically to showcase the abundance of talent native to Nashville, the Company's performance will be a part of the world-class venue's inaugural season. 

​​​​​​​Nashville Ballet's beloved annual Family Day at the Ballet will make its highly anticipated return to Sylvan Park on Sunday, April 24. Held right on site at the Martin Center for Nashville Ballet, this fun and festive event will feature a wide variety of games, activities, story times, plus a special performance by the artists of NB2, Nashville Ballet's official second Company. 

A stunning tour de force of live music, spoken word, and dance, this groundbreaking production explores Shakespeare's tempestuous relationships with two of his most elusive muses: The “Dark Lady” and “Fair Youth.”

Nashville Ballet will kick off a national tour of The New York Times acclaimed Lucy Negro Redux in Nashville this spring. Debuting to three sold-out performances in 2019, this cross-disciplinary tour de force features on-stage narration by renowned writer and poet Caroline Randall Williams, live music by GRAMMY award-winning artist Rhiannon Giddens, and original choreography by Nashville Ballet Artistic Director Paul Vasterling.  

As part of their ongoing mission to become a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive community, Nashville Ballet is excited to announce that they will be transitioning each of their artists into dancer-specific flesh-tone tights and shoes.

Nashville Ballet is once again bringing Music City's favorite holiday tradition to homes across Middle Tennessee for free this holiday season. Following its live performances at TPAC December 15–24, the four-time Emmy Award-nominated production of Nashville's Nutcracker will be available to view through NewsChannel 5 WTVF beginning December 25.

As it returns to live performances, Smuin Contemporary Ballet announces the addition of four new dancers: Stéphano Candreva, Marc LaPierre, Yuri Rogers, and Claire Buehler, who is an apprentice this season.

Inspired by the boy who never wanted to grow up, Nashville Ballet’s performance of Peter Pan will include all the characters audiences have grown to love from this classic tale, plus on-stage flying and a newly arranged musical score featuring works by Debussy, Faure, Ravel, and Bizet.

Though hard to believe it may be, Studio Tenn artistic director Patrick Cassidy and his wife Melissa Hurley Cassidy have been Tennesseans for well over a year now – he took the reins at Studio Tenn, the Franklin-based professional theater company that has gained critical acclaim and national notoriety during its existence for its unique blend of musicals and original plays – but only now, as theater re-emerges from the dark days of a pandemic-related shutdown, have we managed to get the peripatetic Mr. Cassidy to take time out from his hectic schedule to answer our questions and give BroadwayWorld readers a chance to get to know him better.
