A Stoop On Orchard Street

PRODUCTION INFOMATION:

About the Production: A Stoop On Orchard Street, a musical with book, music, and lyrics by Jay Kholos, takes a nostalgic look at tenement life of Russian Jewish immigrants on Manhattan's Lower East Side, circa 1910. The original 2003 production ran successfully off-Broadway for 16 months

Production location: Dell Theater in the National Museum of American Jewish History (NMAJH) in Philadelphia, PA, as well as additional venues within two hours of the Philadelphia area

Rehearsal dates: September 10 through October 5, 2012 in Philadelphia

Performance dates: October 6 through December 30, 2012 in Philadelphia and surround areas

Housing: Philadelphia housing will be provided for all Nashville-based cast members

Compensation: Actors will be compensated on a per-performance basis with 6-7 performances per week scheduled during the run.

About auditions: Open Non-Equity auditions for the Philadelphia production of A Stoop On Orchard Street will be held in Nashville on Thursday, August 9, 2012 from 6:30 to 9:30 PM at the studio of Moore Casting. Callbacks, if needed, will be scheduled for a later date

Available roles: Roles are available for male and female non-equity actors (age 18 to 50+) who can sing and move well. In addition, we will be auditioning talented young male actors for the principal role of 10 year-old Benny. The characters in A Stoop On Orchard Street are recently-arrived Eastern European/Russian Jewish immigrants who populated the crowded tenements of Manhattan's Lower East Side during the first decades of the 20th century

Please prepare: Auditionees should prepare to sing 16 bars of an upbeat Broadway-type song as well as a ballad. An accompanist will be provided – please bring sheet music in the correct key. There will also be a CD player available for pre-recorded accompaniment. Come prepared to move for a brief dance audition. Cold readings will be assigned from the script
