Woodbury's Arts Center of Cannon County Readies CAMELOT For Run Opening March 9

The Arts Center of Cannon County in Woodbury invites theater-goers to "rediscover the grandeur of one of history's greatest love stories" via Lerner and Loewe's timeless musical Camelot-starring John Blankenship, Katherine Sandoval Taylor and Kinsey Brewer-opening March 9 and running through March 18.

"Set in a fabled land where honor and chivalry reign, this sumptuous tale that follows the love triangle of the genial King Arthur, his flirtatious wife Queen Guinevere and the charming young egoist Lancelot," reads a press release which also highlights the show's memorable score that includes such time-honored musical theater classics as "If Ever I would Leave You," "How To Handle A Woman," "I Loved You Once in Silence" and "Follow Me."

Produced by Darryl Deason, Camelot is directed by Cyndie Verbeten, with music direction by Fran Gebhur. The cast is led by John Blankenship as King Arthur, Katherine Sandoval Taylor as Queen Guinevere, Kinsey Brewer as Lancelot, and includes Phil Mote, Michael Adcock, David Cummings, Mark Chism, Will Duke, Christine Poythress, James Bessant, Kelly Spradley, Joseph Brown, Joilyn George, Heather Willow, Zack Whitehead, James Adkins, Tim Davis John Gardner, Esther Hood, Leah Chism, Any Davis, Sam Kerley and Ramona Adkins.

Based on T. H. White's literary version of the legend The Once and Future King, Camelot was adapted for the Broadway stage by the famed musical theater duo of Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Lowe in 1960. The musical swept the Tony Awards in 1961 with an amazing team of leading players that included Richard Burton, Julie Andrews, Robert Goulet and Rodney MacDowell. Subsequently, Camelot has become one of the most popular musical theater titles for regional theaters.

The performance schedule for all shows is Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2:00 p.m. Tickets for Camelot are $12 with discounts available for students, seniors and groups and may be purchased by calling the Arts Center box office at 615-563-(ARTS) 2787 or 1-800-235-9073.

The Blue Porch @ Arts Center"restaurant is now open before all performances.  The Arts Center is located on 1424 John Bragg Highway, just west of the town of Woodbury, approximately 20 minutes from Murfreesboro, Manchester, and McMinnville and one hour southeast of Nashville. Box office hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
