Chaffin's Barn Dinner Theatre Preps ELVIS HAS LEFT THE BUILDING for 2/16 Opening Night

Chaffins-Barn-Dinner-Theatre-Preps-ELVIS-HAS-LEFT-THE-BUILDING-for-216-Opening-Night-20010101

From the same writing team that created Frankly, My Dear—Duke Ernsburger and Virginia Cate—comes the latest comedy opening at Nashville’s Chaffin's Barn Dinner Theatre: Elvis Has Left the Building. Running February 16-March 18, the comedy is directed by Martha Wilkinson, artistic director of the company that is celebrating its 45th season of bringing theater to Nashville audiences.

According to a press release, “It's 1970 and Elvis is missing. His manager, the “Colonel,” needs his star for an extremely important live performance. (You see, he owes a certain mobster a bit of money). Oh, and the show is in 24 hours. When the search for the real Elvis proves fruitless, he looks for the next best thing—an Elvis impersonator. But where can he find one that he can pass off as the real Elvis? And what has the real Elvis been up to anyway? This riotously funny story will have you wanting more and keep you guessing until the end!”

The release promises that Elvis Has Left the Building is “full of King-sized laugh-out-loud moments!” and stars JJ Brazil, Lydia Bushfield  last seen in A Country Christmas, Carol) Corey Caldwell (last seen in Nate Eppler’s Modern Love), Warren Gore as the “Colonel” (also last seen in Modern Love) and Alan Smith. Both Brazil and Smith are making their Chaffin’s Barn debuts in the comedy.

Elvis Has Left the Building continues Chaffin’s Barn’s new 2012 performance schedule:  Every Thursday and Saturday “Theatre in the Afternoon,” when the house opens at 11 a.m., the show at noon. Tickets are $19 (bring your own lunch, beverages provided or order or you may order Chaffin’s Boxed Lunch when you make your reservation for an additional $8.50).

Peformances are slated for every Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings, with the buffet served from 6 to 7:30 p.m., with the show at 8 p.m. And a matinee performance is offered every Sunday, with the buffet served from noon to 1:30 p.m., with curtain at 2 p.m. Tickets for evening shows and Sunday matinees are $60 per adult, Seniors (65 and up) $58, students (13-18 years of age) $45, and tickets for children 12 and under are $35. Show only tickets are: $40 adults, $30 for children 12 and under, $35 for students (all prices include coffee tea and soft drinks and tax)

Reservations are required; call (615) 646-9977 to book your place. The Opening Night Gala, featuring champagne and special appetizers , is set for Thursday evening, February 16.
