Chaffin's Barn Dinner Theatre Offers Three Shows for Holiday Season Audiences

Chaffins-Barn-Dinner-Theatre-Offers-Three-Shows-for-Holiday-Season-Audiences-20010101Janie and John Chaffin and company have decked the halls and baked the cookies, so Chaffin’s Barn Dinner Theatre, the venerable Nashville theatre celebrating its 45th year of bringing the best of Broadway to Music City USA, ushers in yet another holiday season with three shows offered for audiences of all ages.

Marc Camoletti’s jet-setting comedy Boeing Boeing, Martha Wilkinson’s A Country Christmas, Carol and Vanessa Wynn’s Santa’s Got A Brand New Bag highlight the holiday hilarity at the theater, with shows offered throughout the coming month.

Charles Burr directs Boeing Boeing, a comedy by Marc Camoletti and adapted By Beverly Cross, running December 1-31 on the mainstage. The buffet is served from 6 to 7:30 p.m., with the show at 8 p.m. The run also includes two “Theatre in the Afternoon” Thursday senior matinees, in addition to the evening shows, on December 8 and 15 (the house opens at 11 a.m., with the show at noon). A Sunday Matinee of both Boeing Boeing and A Country Christmas, Carol, is set for Sunday, December 4, with the buffet served from noon to 1:30 p.m., with the show at 2 p.m.

In Boeing Boeing, Bernard Lawrence, an English architect living in Paris, has devised a sophisticated timetable to organize his three ongoing love affairs w/ his three air hostess girlfriends who work for Air France, TWA and Lufthansa- each spending time w/ Bernard on their stops in Paris. Up until now, the timetable has been foolproof but one of his "honeys" has a flight change and Bernard’s life hits some mighty strong turbulence when all three air hostesses arrive at the same time.

Burr, artistic director of Tibbit’s Summer Theatre in Coldwater, Michigan, returns to Nashville to direct a cast that includes Corey Caldwell, Nate Eppler (last seen in Rear Widow and The Late Late Show), Joanna Hackman, Amanda Card McCoy, Jennifer Richmond  (last seen in Southern Fried Funeral) and Martha Wilkinson (last seen in Southern Fried Funeral)

Running at Backstage at the Barn Theatre, Martha Wilkinson’s A Country Christmas, Carol  is described as “an Appalachian spin on the classic Dickens story as told by a mother to her daughter, Carol on Christmas Eve. Set in modern day London, Kentucky, the story centers on Ebeneezer Scrubb a slumlord who works his poor assistant Bob Scratchitt to the bone. Ebeneezer begins to change his ways when confronted by the ghost of his business partner, Jacob Harley. He's then visited by three Ghosts: Christmas Past (Grandpa Jonas) Christmas Present (Holly Darton) and Christmas Yet to Come (Big E

Directed by Lydia Bushfield, A Country Christmas, Carol stars Bryce Conner, Warren Gore, Daniel Hackman, Joy Tilley Perryman and Charlie Winton with a special guest appearance by Amanda Lamb. Bushfield does double duty, acting in the play as well.

Reservations are required for both shows and both are expected to sell out. Call (615) 646-9977 to book your spot for an evening of fine food and entertainment.
