The Miss Firecracker Contest centers on Carnelle Scott (played by Lauren Moore), a Southern girl trying to salvage her tarnished reputation as “Miss Hot Tamale” by winning the annual Miss Firecracker contest and leaving sleepy Brookhaven, Mississippi, in a red-hot blaze of glory.
Directed by John Carpenter, board president of Lakewood Theatre, in addition to Moore the cast includes Heather Alexander as odd seamstress Popeye Jackson, Jill Braddock-Watson as former Miss Firecracker Elain Rutledge, Michael Welch as the troubled and charming Delmount Williams, Daniel DeVault and Asa Ambrister sharing the role of Mac Sam, and Laura Lindsey as pageant coordinator Tessy Mahoney.
Showtimes are Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday matinees at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are available at www.TicketsNashville.com, or a limited number of reservations are available through the Lakewood box office at (615) 847-0934.
