BWW Interviews: PAMM HOWARD is The Latest Actor to Tackle The Friday Five

This week, the spotlights focuses in on one of Nashville theater's most versatile actresses: the lovely and talented Pamm Howard.

Last year, in the 2011 BroadwayWorld.Com Nashville Theatre Awards, Howard was named "Best Featured Actress in a Play" for her performance in Lakewood Theatre's production of A Few Good Men, directed by Vickie Bailey. In this year's balloting for the Tennessee Theatre Awards, she's nominated for performances with Hendersonville's Steeple Players in To Kill A Mockingbird (as Calpurnia) and Alice in Wonderland (as the vicious and vindictive Queen of Hearts).

To put it simply, with stage presence to spare Pamm Howard is one of those actors who command the stage every time she sets foot on it. Get to know more about Pamm in our latest installment of The Friday Five…

What was your first "live onstage" taste of theater? I was a dancer from his Royal Highness the King in my third grade play.

What's your favorite pre-show ritual? I'm a member of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw and I smug (burn and fan sage to clear away negative energy). I always circle up for a prayer with my castmates, as well.

What's your most memorable "the show must go on" moments? I fell out of the bed (I was by myself unfortunately) and tore my rotator cuff and had to perform in Little Shop of Horrors that night.

What's your dream role? It hasn't been created for me yet…

Who's your theatrical crush? Audra McDonald...All-around talent. Theatre, Film, TV...Love her! 

Jeffrey Ellis is a Nashville-based writer, editor and critic, who's been covering the performing arts in Tennessee for more than 25 years. He is the recipient of the Tennessee Theatre Association's Distinguished Service Award for his coverage of theatre in the Volunteer State and was the founding editor/publisher of Stages, the Tennessee Onstage Monthly. Further, Ellis directed the Nashville premiere of La Cage Aux Folles, The Last Night of Ballyhoo and An American Daughter, as well as award-winning productions of Damn Yankees, Company, Gypsy and The Rocky Horror Show, with Ellis honored by The Tennessean as best director of a musical for both Company and Rocky Horror.
