Playhouse Nashville Seeks Scripts For 2012 Ten Minute Playhouse Presentations

Eager to feed Music City's growing appetite for quality original theatrical material, Playhouse Nashville is now accepting submissions for the fourth incarnation of its popular showcase for Middle Tennessee artists, The Ten Minute Playhouse-named one of The First Night Award's Top 11 Theatrical Events of 2011.

We're very excited about returning to Street Theatre Company with this edition of The Ten Minute Playhouse," says co-curator Chris Bosen. "We think bringing The Ten Minute Playhouse back to where it began is an exciting way to launch Playhouse Nashville's eagerly anticipated year-long residency at Street Theatre Company in 2013."

Slated for December 9 and 10, The Ten Minute Playhouse returns to Street Theatre Company for its 2012 run. Deadline for submissions by Tennessee playwrights is 5pm Saturday, November 17. Bosen and co-curators Nate Eppler, Garret Schneider and Lauren Shouse have guided The Ten Minute Playhouse's growth over the last year and a half by presenting 42 new plays by 29 local authors and featuring The Combined talents of more than 60 area actors and directors. The upcoming December event will add to those rapidly growing numbers.

"Our audiences, and our collaborators, continue to clamor for more – more opportunities to experience fresh scripts, more exposure for new voices, and more chances to see locally grown theatre artists in the spotlight," says Eppler, who twice has been honored with the First Night Award for Outstanding Original Production in both 2010 and 2011. "We're happy to give Nashville more of what they're asking for by presenting the very best scripts we can, and pairing them with top-notch actors and directors."
